Merisa Parson Davis is a cousin of Dr. Bill Cosby. She is a 2008 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Theological Studies. She attended classes at Liberty’s Center for External Studies at First Redeemer Church in Cumming, Georgia, pastored by Dr. Richard Lee. There, she served for seven years as a Bible Teacher, youth worker, Women’s Conference speaker, and an instructor for Christian book publishing classes.

Merisa earned her undergraduate degree at Liberty University in Lynchburg,Virginia. (Founded by the late Dr. Jerry Falwell) There, she studied Television Broadcasting, Journalism, and Christian Counseling. She is a former news anchor and reporter for WVIR-TV NBC-29, in her hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia.

Merisa has worked in youth ministry in various capacities since 1998. In 2009, she worked to create Liberty University’s African-American Worship Studies Program. She has been a guest Lecturer in the Liberty University Women’s ministry program, where she taught a class on African-American Women’s ministry. She also served on several boards, including the LU Board of Regents, from 1999 to 2008, and as Chairperson of the Liberty Multi-cultural Advisory Board from 2011 to 2013.

She has been married for 20 years to Marc R. Davis, who is the owner of the Davis State Farm Insurance Agency in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She is the proud mother of two teenagers, Charissa Joy, and Marc Isaac.

Merisa’s current book, “Bill Cosby IS Right: But What Should the Church Be Doing About It?” is about the African-American family. She is a frequent radio and television guest on programs throughout the southeast, speaking on African-American issues. Her book was featured nationally on “The 700 Club” in 2011 and has been endorsed by Dr.Ben Kinchlow (former “700 Club” host), Dr. Ben Carson (Pediatric Neurosurgeon and author, “Gifted Hands”), and Dr. Alveda King (niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King). She hopes to pursue her Ph.D in the near future.

In 2012 God spoke to the Davis family about starting a new fellowship in partnership with Victory Temple Church in Lenoir City, TN. Pastor Woody Martin was in agreement and gave the go-ahead. After a brief search, a building was found, and August 16, 2013 marked the grand opening of Victory Temple Atlanta Church.
